Smart Grid a topic of discussion at Vibrant Gujarat

Vibrant Gujarat, The 5th global investors summit organized by Government of Gujarat is held biannually to attract investors in the state. The event, which was held on January 11-13,2011, attracted investment worth of $450 billion.Vibrant Gujarat, held at newly built Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, Gujarat was attended by Who's Who of Indian business world. Partnered by Japan and Canada  the summit show investment in sectors like Ports, Solar Parks, Special Investment Region (SIRs), Infrastructure, Power, Petrochemicals,  Food Processing, and Pharmaceuticals.

Energy segment seem to have got major attention at the summit, The International Workshop on Solar park and Smart City Development held on 13th of Jan was attended with full audience. Smart Grid  was one of the topic of discussion at this workshop where Mr.Surinder Negi, MD of GETCO (Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation LTD) provided information on how the Smart Grid will integrated for efficient distribution of Solar Energy from the solar parks to urban and rural areas.  Asian Development Bank (ADB) is going to build the 120 km Smart grid connecting Solar Parks and rural substations. With development like this and Ecolibrium Energy's pilot project at Gandhinagar, Gujarat seems to be taking lead in Smart Grid development in India.
